What is The Family Network?
Laura Morris started The Family Network on the 9th February 2009 with her business partner at the time. They felt that there was no support for local mums in business, who were not only trying to start or run their own business but also juggle family life. SO on the 9th February 2009 they met with a small group of other entrepreneurial mummies and soon realised from the feedback they received it could be more. Over the next few months they built a website, held more events and went onto providing a great support network of like minded women.
2009 was a great year with a Hampshire branch being added in November and 2010 went onto be even better! The Family Network (Dorset) at this point had reached Over 350 members. Their monthly events consisted of affordable workshops, free events with the kids and more and also importantly raising funds for various charities Locally and Nationally.
In May 2010, Laura decided to relocate back to Warwickshire to be nearer family. A hard decision but an exciting one as it meant they were expanding and The Family Network (Warwickshire) was born.
In the later part of 2010, there was a big change as Stacey Calder, a long term friend of Laura’s bought out the current business partner and became Co-Director. She then sold her share to Victoria Alcock, who has been running the Stratford Branch for 3 years and is a previous award winner with The Family Network.
Laura and Victoria have both always had aspirations and dreams for the business. The Family Network is about supporting each other and recommendations. They recognise the power of word of mouth endorsement. It is prevalent amongst the parenting community and the importance of tapping into it to increase sales. By joining forces and sharing skills, knowledge and contacts they hope to drive business success for all members.
Our ethos is to provide free networking events along with affordable workshops and family events. We do not charge membership fees and members are welcome to dip in and out when they choose. Our approach has always been professional yet relaxed. We like to be approachable and on doing this we have a great community that is growing daily with a growing number of branches across the UK.
In the past few years, The Family Network have been Winner of Women on their Way Awards, Highly Commended in the HP Smart Business Awards and in 2013 started their own annual The Family Network Business Recognition Awards which celebrates the hard working mums and dads in business..
